Title: Gintama
Post by: shadowDOESrock on January 13, 2013, 01:18:53 AM
Out of all those "big" anime shows in japan, gintama is the only one without a dub.

Maybe that one really is breaking the barrier of being too... japanese.
Anyone watched some episodes?

It's Family Guy for Japan
Where as Family Guy uses Western references, Gintama uses Eastern references
It really is "too" different.

ACTUALLY... the show is licensed in the US by Sentai Filmworks and we got a few sub-only DVDs but they didn't sell all that well. They recently released the movie, but it DID have a dub! They said they were testing the market to see if Gintama would still sell and if people wanted a dub.

...that's about all I got though, no clue if it did well. I know Viz has put the manga on hiatus. :c
