1st time: Rita's special green candle burned out and she almost gained possession of his powers. Luckily he gave his power coin to Jason before Rita could get her hands on the green ranger power.

2nd time: His power eventually just burned out on its own. The recharge he got from the forcefield when he retrieved the other rangers' power coins didn't last forever, and eventually he just ran out of power altogether.
