Spiderman Reboot Series?!?

Announced by Sony a while ago (like the beginning of February). First film slated for 2011.

What I've been told is that Sony fired Sam Raimi, at which point Toby Maguire quit.
Thoughts?
I personally I am going to miss three things about the old trilogy.
1) Toby Maguire as Peter Parker,
2) Sam Raimi's Directing,
3) Danny Elfman's Music (although he only composed the music for 1 and 2)

If they put Zac Efron as Peter, I'll just have to kill something.

I agree about the Zac Efron thing that you said. However it might be a fly that I kill... but whatever.

This just sounds stupid to me, personally. I highly doubt they're going to pull off an awesome movie.

I agree with the sounding stupid bit. Rebooting Hulk was a good idea, as the first one pretty much bombed at the box office. But Spiderman? With the success of the recent trilogy? Does not sound smart to me.

I'm still not sure. I don't doubt that they'll get a good actor for Peter/Spidey, and I'm sure they can get good writers for the story, but a lot people are expecting it to be a Spiderman 4, and they're going to be sorely dissapointed.

But seriously why could they not agree on a plot? There are like, 10 spiderman villains they havent used yet! They just could've picked one and worked around that to come up with a good plot.

Well, there was the scene where Peter danced down the street, the ones where he's a complete jerk, the fact that if the film had focused only on Sandman that it would have been a lot more interesting, the anticlimactic ending, and the overall emo feel of the film.
