Title: Medal of Honor Franchise killed by EA... AGAIN!
Post by: shadowDOESrock on January 30, 2013, 04:51:53 PM
The Medal of Honor series is now "out of rotation," EA announced during its third quarter financial call. Following Medal of Honor: Warfighter's poor commercial and critical reception in October, EA is taking Medal of Honor out of commission.

"The game was solid, but the focus on combat authenticity did not resonate with consumers," EA COO Peter Moore said. "Critics were polarized and gave the game scores which were, frankly, lower than it deserved. This one is behind us now. We are taking Medal of Honor out of the rotation and have a plan to bring year-over-year continuity to our shooter offerings."

EA Labels president Frank Gibeau said EA missed the mark, and the marketplace, with Medal of Honor: "We're in a hit-driven business where it's about what you can build in a certain period of time and really deliver for the marketplace, and frankly we missed on Medal of Honor. And we take responsibility for that."

Gibeau continued, "If you look at Medal of Honor as a specific case, it was really about a hit missing."

My Take:
Now, i'm not really sure how you can fuck up the exact same franchise with the exact same mistake twice. But, thats what you get EA.

I thought the whole point of sequels was to take all the mistakes of the previous one, fix them, and expand upon the existing formula.

Not in this generation of gaming, "Oh, this franchise doesn't sell anymore, time to pull the plug, there's nothing more we can do"

Warfighter was worse than the first reboot title.
Infact, Warfighter was probably the worst shooter this year.

...but EA thinks so highly of themselves they really dont give two fucks.

Doesn't mean they should just give up, make the next one better

They believe the game was good, but gamers didnt dig the whole "authentic" part.

Then make the next one non-authentic...

Then... it wouldnt be Medal of Honor?

Anyway, they did some damage control and today stated that they "could've done some things better" and will probably reboot it (again) for the unannounced next-gen systems.

EA + Anyone = Sack of Steaming Shit
EA + Smartest person alive = Dumbest person to ever live

EA = Ballsack

MoH is the game that started the whole WW2 Shooter-Craze in the 2000's.
The Creators however didnt like how MoH was handeld by EA and went to make their own Company "Infinity Ward".

Infinity Ward then made their "definite" version of MoH: Call of Duty.
Those two franchises battled each other for the longest time.

Infinity Ward though, unlike EA, realised that WW2 Shooters were oversaturated and made Call of Duty 4, starting the whole MMS-Craze. EA still rode on MoH, but no one cared anymore after putting out WW2 MoH's on a yearly basis.

Ironically, MoH was then rebooted to mimic CoD and died once more. Meanwhile, the guys- who once hated EA for how they handled their games- created Respawn Entertainment because they didnt like what Activison was doing with CoD and went back to make a deal with EA.

In the end they came crawling back to EA, and IW themselves were responsible for the shitbag of MW3.
