Super Sonic Boom

E3 ended not too long ago, and it seemed that the battle of the "band games" was in full swing. Both Guitar Hero and Rock Band showed off their newest games and made it clear that they are aiming high this time for best band game. Since both of these games are relatively similar, I decided I shall talk about them both and let you decide which one will be better.

Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock

Coming off of their success of Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero, Activision demonstrated Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock which from the looks of it use some of the same aspects used in both GH5 and Band Hero as well as bring in new aspects. Now, bands can join up to gain an insane amount of stars and multipliers can go up to x36 now instead of x8. The redesigned guitar controller looks to be similar to the GHWT controller EXCEPT no "slider bar", does this mean that there will be no sliding notes charted in the game, most likely yes unless they change their mind. The warriors in the game are unlocked throughout the story/career mode and each character will have their unique ability they can bring to the table such as gaining additional stars or having higher starting multipliers.

Rock Band 3
Harmonix does not need an introduction when it comes to Rock Band games, and in this new addition to the series it seems like this will be the most realistic Rock Band game to date! The actual controller (which can be seen in the demo video) can also be plugged into a real amplifier to be played in real life. Granted this seems to be the perfect controller and perfect idea for this game, it seems like that there is one thing flawed with the charting of the songs if you opt-in to this new guitar. The charting seen in the demonstration appears to be cluttered with the text showing you which note you must hit to play the song correctly...don't get me wrong, on easy, it's no problem but when playing on expert and hyperspeed...reading these cues could be problematic. Luckily, it appears that the Rock Band designers took this into consideration and made tutorials for EVERY SINGLE SONG in Rock Band 3 which appears to be more extensive than just the practice modes we have seen before in these kinds of games. After all of this though it basically comes down to whether or not you think you really want to go out and buy a "realistic" guitar to play a video game. Hopefully though, Harmonix will allow Rock Band/Guitar Hero controllers to be subbed in for these new guitars.

So after all is said and done, who won E3? And which game would you be more apt to buy?
