Title: Villains in Videogames.
Post by: shadowDOESrock on October 24, 2014, 10:21:16 PM
Now, after the recent Avengers 2 trailer, and seeing how much of a presense Ultron has, I started thinking 'Why don't Videogames have such Villains?' Ultimately I conlcluded that I'd need to add an 'anymore' to the question...

Seriously, how many memorable Villains did we get in recent years?
I honestly could only count Father Balder from Bayonetta 1 & 2, Didact from Halo 4 and entire cast of Metal Gear Rising and Skullface from Metal Gear Solid 5 and I guess also Ghirahim, Mundus and Vaas.

But none of these reached the same status as lets say Sephiroth...

Hades.
Lysandre.
Master Core.
Cia.

I can't name many either, but I also don't play many games with big stories anymore.

I dunno about video games atm, but I do know Amon and Zaheer are recent villains that really left an impression on me recently

But yeah, even recent JRPG villains have been really lacking, and those were like the best of the best...

Lysandre aint shit. Ghetsis is more memorable than him.
Master Core? Really? It really looks like Tabuu planted shadow bugs in Master Hand and that affected the Master Core. At least that's my theory.
Also, no one mentioned Fawful. Although he was just more awesome than villainous.
Hades was a good choice though.

Fawful is old
We're talking recently

I'm assuming Kyo means 3DS, PS3, Xbox360, PS4, Xbone and Vita.

Master Core is literally nothing but a black mass with multiple forms. It has no motives, it has no personality, it only exists to serve as a final boss. How is it a good villain?

>implying a villain needs any of that to be memorable.

What he lacks in personality he makes up for in sheer memorability. You can't tell me you didn't flip your shit the first time you saw him. Hell, I was watching a stream and I still went nuts. He's also a fun boss to just fight in general which is even something Lysandre and Ghirihim don't have going for them.

No, actually, I didn't flip my shit. In fact, when you posted that video of Master Core on the forums I had no idea what you were freaking out about. It just seemed like a generic boss to me.
