Depends, believe it or not.

If I'm to create a character, where I'm to be inserting myself into the world, or whether the NPCs are gonna be referring to me, then I'll be the boy.

If it's established characters that the world itself recognise and refer to, like the choice to be Link or Zelda in Hyrule Warriors, I'll be the girl.
