While not the equivalent of Oscars, I think that status is reserved for BAFTA, the video game industry's most prolific award ceremony is undoubtedly the annual Spike TV Video Game Awards. This years winners were quite satisfactory, but I'll let you be the judge of that.

Personally, I think that Xbox 360's game of the year being L4D2 is a bit ironic considering this is the version that players are most complaining about. Certain categories feel unnecessary (Team Sports and Individual Sports?) while certain categories feel missed out (no JRPG?)
I think the VGAs are rigged. It seems like every game that is supposed to win, does, even if it wasn't all that great.

From what I'm hearing, Super Mario Galaxy is much better. It's just the hype has gone down on Galaxy because it's been out for ages. Did you see the ONM Review?

It wasn't eligible. This was just for games that came out this year.
Of coarse Uncharted 2 won, it's an awesome game! I'm playing as we speak. Anyways I 100% agree to their judgement.
