Title: Pokemon: Best Wishes
Post by: TheGameNinja on August 26, 2010, 07:11:03 PM
I myself have only been a casual fan of the Pokemon anime since the days of Hoenn, but the new series Best Wishes (get it? BW... Black and White) has piqued my interest, if only because of the seemingly completely different art style of the show.

Take a look at how Ash looked in all past seasons.
(http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc78/The_Game_Ninja/Anime_Ash.png)(http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc78/The_Game_Ninja/Ashag-1.png)(http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc78/The_Game_Ninja/SatoshiDP-1.png)

Now look at him in the new series.

The picture is kind of small, but you can definitely see his eyes. They are a lot larger than before. The designs are more rounded too, as you can see if you look at Pikachu.

Now, let's take a look at our new Officer and Nurse.

Their designs are almost completely different from the previous Officer Jennys and Nurse Joys. Who knows, they may not even be Jenny or Joy.

Along with this, the Pokemon of this generation are, on average, much more complicated in design that previous ones.

Now, none of this is to say that I am angry or disappointed with the anime, or the franchise for that matter. In fact, my curiosity will probably get me to watch the show once it hits the States.

So, anyone have any thoughts?

.....

I rarely use more than three dots, but this is just...

I have no words for those, just, wow. I also dislike Ash's new design. Before I began to get more interest in Sonic a year ago, I was a HUGE fan of Pokémon. I began with collecting Pokémon cards back in... March 2008? And there's a big chance that I have the biggest and best collection of cards here in Amsterdam, since I bought a pack of cards like, four times in one week... yeah. I've also been watching the anime every day. But I've stopped with paying interest to Pokémon since the second trailer of the 12th movie came out. I've always been wanting a Arceus Lv.X card, and Shad too (fun fact: Shad and I both collected and traded cards, we had some lulz with that), and look at that, a few months later when we stopped, bang, a Arceus lv.X card. And there's even five of these cards or something. I might still try out the new Black and White game, since all these new 3D functions look interesting to me.

I started to get a bit off-topic, sorry about that. But all I have to say is: They fucked up. I've been watching it since... what was that first region called... but yeah, since Ash's sidekicks were both Brock and Misty. First region: "This seems like a new anime." Johto: "Whoo! More episodes!" Hoenn (or something): "Well nice, but these episodes keep repeating darnit" Sinnoh: "Looks awesome!" I loved Ash's design, best one I like. New Pokémon were also interesting, Giratina's Origine form (Or Distortion something form, I'm used to saying Origine Form since I always played the Japanese version of Platinum) became my favorite one out of all the 493. Well, I was done after Platinum, and I thought that it was a nice way to end my interest to Pokémon.

"Arceus is the God of all Pokémon's, and the last number of the Pokédex. This should be the end of everything, right?

...

What the heck are those?! OMG, not even Dawn to relate to! I simply cannot imagine Ash hanging with those two at any time. I mean, seriously! Who's the guy? A snobby rich kid who'll cramp every ounce of Ash's style? And what's up with the girls hair? Her ponytail is bigger than her whole freaking body! If she let it down, she'd have to have someone carry it!

I am now officially past angry, and have moved into furious. >:(

I kind of like Ash's new design. I thought this would be good...until I saw the new travelers. I said, "WTF!!!". I know those two will fuck up Pokemon for us. But I'm giving them a chance.

Almost the same reaction, the new looks of Ash was enough but the new traveling partners?!?
Man, just one look at them and I already thought that they would suck... I just can't imagine Ash walking with those two.

Ash look is fine, as his hat is different. And now we have to fucked up travelers. The only thing good about them is that Denno is a gym leader. Oh well I guess I won't be watching pokemon anymore.

I'm sorry, but no. Only one character has been requested even after all these years, and that's Misty. This proves that the water-trainer was (and still is) Ash's most popular travel partner.

Hey, if it were up to me I'd put Ash with Brock and Misty every time, but that doesn't mean that these two are automatically going to be bad. I mean, they can't POSSIBLY be worse than Max... right? ...RIGHT?!

There's a theory that claims that Ash has been in a coma since he was attacked by the Spearow in episode 1 (and a variation that says that the coma doesn't start until the end of the first season, but I don't know much about that one). It's long and complicated, but it does make a lot of sense, which can be a little creepy when you think about it. I won't go into detail here, but it says that before the Spearow attack, Pokemon are said to be wild and scary or something like that, but afterwards, Pokemon are mostly friendly. And other things, like Brock being created by Ash's adolescent mind to cope with sexual thoughts (remember, if this is true he would be in the coma for a long time), the same stories repeating themselves because his brain can't keep thinking up new things for him to dream, and Team Rocket never catches Pikachu because Ash just doesn't want them to.

I could go on about it, but this isn't really the place. :3

It's the same as when they went to Hoenn and Sinnoh. They're "sent" to Isshu and "given" the "mission" of founding the Isshu branch of Team Rocket.

I doubt they actually get around to doing it, since they never did in Hoenn or Sinnoh.

lmao I love how some people get so butthurt over something so trivial.
I've been a true and loyal Pokemon fan since the show and the games (the main ones everyone knows about) came stateside.

I was kinda confused when G/S/C came out, and the games had different main characters.  At first I was upset cause the show still had Ash but the games didn't, but then I realized it was more fun and interesting with different characters and personalities.  And I recognized this at the age of...what...G/S came out about a week and a half after my 7th birthday in 2000, and I got Silver for Christmas that year.  Seven.

I went on a tangent to build up to my semi-rant/my two cents...

The New Traveling Partners
So Ash has new traveling partners.  Big deal.  He has new ones every season just about, and I like that.  Don't get me wrong, I love Misty and Brock, but you have to agree that the show would get quite boring if he had the same two partners for five/six/however many there are seasons.  I kind of find it funny that a seven year old can recognize that something would be boring with so much repetition, but people who are 13, 14, even 15+ can't BEAR to see the changes.
So, once again, I said all that to say this:  I like the new travel partner's designs.  Especially Iris.  She kinda reminds me a little bit of one of my favorite Gym Leaders, Jasmine.  I can't wait to see them in action.

The New Design
Ash.  Uh...he's still the same.  Just saying.  They just changed his design and the art style a little bit.  Things change, people.  Now I know that not everyone is butthurting about the design change, but I know a few (especially from deviantART) who were complaining because Ash's eyes got bigger.  That was their MAIN COMPLAINT.
The Officer and the Nurse.  Uh, yeah.  I like these designs of them better.  Joy's hair from the previous series was always so cute, and I'm glad they kept it.  Even if that isn't Joy.  But, even if they would have changed it, like they did with the Officer's hair, I still wouldn't have complained.  I actually like the Officer's hair more this way.

Team Rocket's New Design
JFIKDSJFKLDSJFKLSDFLSDKFJSDFKDSJFFKJSDJL I FLIPPIN' LOVE IT.
I've been waiting since SEASON ONE for them to "adopt" the usual Rocket Grunt colors.  I was SO confused on why they had white clothes and rest had black.  I guess it was to set them apart from the rest of them, like Butch and Cassidy (which still remain two of my favorite Pokemon characters...EVER).  All I can say here is "IT'S ABOUT FREAKIN' TIME<33333333333333333333333"
So, that just boosted my hype factor higher than it was before.

The Spearow Theory
I'm sorry, but I had to laugh at that.  It's believable, if you want to believe that the creators had a deep and psychological reasoning behind everything.  Besides that...I find it to be untrue.  It was still very well thought out, and quite enjoyable to read, however.  But I doubt that, with a change in directors of the anime in 2005, even if this was true at the start, the second director knew what was going on.  There's a possibility he might have, but it's kinda slim in my eyes.

The Moral of the Story
I can't wait for the show to come out, and I bet it will be just as good, if not better (at the very least, just as good) than previous seasons.

Now, I realize that alot of this is my own personal opinion and views on things, but I just felt that I needed to say it, with all the complaining I've read.

tl;dr
Stop your butthurting, get off your nostalgia high, and accept the fact that there are changes; nothing ever stays the same.*  Just give the show a chance, you might find out that you like it!

*Cue quite hilariously fitting music from Pokemon.

Now, I realize that alot of this is my own personal opinion and views on things, but I just felt that I needed to say it, with all the complaining I've read.

tl;dr
Stop your butthurting, get off your nostalgia high, and accept the fact that there are changes; nothing ever stays the same.*  Just give the show a chance, you might find out that you like it!

lmao I love how some people get so butthurt over something so trivial.

At least Team Rocket is going to Rocket colors...
This must mean that Ash is coming out of the coma?
Or that Ash's mind is becoming bored with the coma?
Title: Re: Pokemon: Best Wishes

I disregard the entire coma theory as pure myth. If the Pokemon people think that Pokeshipping or any shipping is "too mature for kids", then Ash literally dying in the end would cause heartbreak for kids all over the world. In which case, that would make the creators of Pokemon, hypocrites.

Okay, this pissed me off. Am I supposed to believe that Ash goes into a coma? Ash saves Pikachu from fatal attacks all the time. I'm sure he's not in a coma, cuz Pokemon's not THAT dark. If that actually comes true, I will start crying for a long time and will stay in my room, covered, thinking, I can't believe that Ash has been in a coma since Episode 1, seeing as I grew with Pokemon (Watched it when it first came out, when I was 1), and dies cuz he never accomplishes his dream of becoming a master.

It's a conspiracy theory. It's not true. XD

Anyway, back on topic, folks. This is supposed to be a discussion about the new series, not theories about old ones. ;)

Fine. Discussion on new series. Here's my discussion. As soon as I'm done with DP, I'm starting a new fic.

AAML: Journeys Through Isshu

Ash and Misty's love will continue as long as I'm able. If Japan comes out with new seasons, I'll be right on their heels with my editing and rewriting to accomadate the water trainer.

4Kids lost Pokemon several years ago. Nintendo dubs it themselves now and as far as I know it isn't censored too much, if at all. The only problem I have with it is that the 4Kids voice actors were better. Although, I heard Goku's VA in a recent episode of Nintendo's dub... so, it's a trade-off I suppose.

His pokemon didn't use attacks that it knew.
Pikachu took those hits b/c it was as surprised as Ash that its electric attacks didn't work.
But Pikachu should still be able to KO that Lv. 5 with an Iron Tail, since Pikachu is probably Lv.70+
If this was the Manga, and Pika's electric attacks didn't work, Pika still would have won b/c if its FREAKING HIGH level. Stupid anime that has no continuation b/tw seasons.
*apply coma theory*
This would be Ash out of the coma and ALIVE AND WELL, I guess...
IDK
I dun really care about that theory... So like yeah...
