Title: Tomb Raider <3
Post by: TobiTheGoodGirl on August 27, 2010, 03:37:33 PM
I must say my all time favorite out of the series would be TR3, how about you guys? :D

I also want to cosplay Lara...I've been dropping a lot of my planned cosplays lately so it's just Kakuzu, Femalehara, Sesshomaru, Amy Rose and now Lara Croft XD

Yeah....but I retired a lot of them, I'm going to focus on serious cosplays now! ... it doesn't help I lost my Kakuzu shirt however. But enough about cosplay, what about tomb raider? :D

I don't actually play tomb raider but I liked watching my mom play one of the games I liked the most was probably the one for the ps1 with the butler cause for one thing it was fun trapping him in the freezer thingy and another thing is it was just a pretty good game and the second one I liked was angel of darkness I think is what it was called but those are just the ones I can remember most XD and yuss Lara is awesomness X3

I remember playing the very first game long, LONG ago. I've also played the newest one.
I'm not exactly a #1 fan but it's a pretty damn good series.

I LOVE TOMB RAIDER!!!! TR2 was my first PS1 game! My faves are definately TR1 2 and 3, 4 5 and 6 were good but I started to grow slightly distant after Legend, I still like modding the outfits on Legend and Anniversary

Is anyone else like.
So thoroughly pumped for it?

Everything about it looks beyond gorgeous so far. Even dA put up some sort of competition pertaining to it with quite the nice cash prize.

10th game of the series, but they're swapping it all around. dskfjhdskjfhdsf
manly tears of desire for this game
I mean. It'll even be multiplayer. How cool is that ouo

I went for a pre-order Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 over Tomb Raider. So much stuff coming out - i had to decide between those two for March.

This game looks really amazing though, Square Enix certainly knows how to bring life back to half-dead franchises.
(e.g Sleeping Dogs, Hitman Absolution, now this)

I absolutely adore how they're implementing a leveling system and everything. Making it kinda like an open world sort of shabang. I know the gameplay itself is gonna be fantastic, though I really want to see how they do pull off the multiplayer aspect. :3

This Tomb Raider looks more Uncharted than Tomb Raider.

I just came off playing a few PC Tomb Raider games, they had a very distinctive play style than what I'm seeing now.

I just don't get why people take "It looks like Uncharterd" as an insult, I welcome it, the old Tomb Raider style was broken as sh*t.

I mean, yeah. TRIII is still one of my favourite games, but I have the feeling this one wil beyond replace it for me in my heart.

I played and beat the PC version.

I feel the same way about this game as I do about DMC:Devil May Cry... And we know how I feel about that fucking game.

why's that
Because when I saw that this game was using the Uncharted style, I assumed they were going to use it to improve the Tomb Raider style.

What I got was Uncharted 4 with a female protagonist... If I wanted to play more Uncharted, I'd play more. Uncharted, at least that game has characters I actually care about >_>

Y'know, you'd think a game called  TOMB RAIDER would have you, y'know, raiding tombs

I was excited as f*ck for this game cause I liked Tomb Raider's style of atmosphere and exploration. So to be put on an island with an inexperienced Lara Croft filled with all sorts of wildlife, and then to find out that people have been dying on this island for centuries, y'know, giving us tombs to raid.
But no, what I got was just another 3rd person shooter, where you just shoot men, NOT BEARS n' SHIT, there are barely any puzzles to solves, and the tomb raiding is optional...

If there's one thing I hate about the current state of the game industry, it's the false advertising, and that I always seem to end up unhappy for being a fan of franchise...

I dunno, we got exactly what was advertised.
If you didnt raid tombs... thats... really your own fault. lol.

Game's called Tomb Raider, but the tomb raiding and exploring is optional, but the killing of men.is mandatory...

It's like calling Street Fighter "Car Destroyer" or "Barrel Buster"

All I'm saying is that the next Tomb Raider outghta play more like Tomb Raider. And for the love of god make Lara interesting again...

Exploring should be optional, elsewise it wouldnt be... exploring.
Exploring was always optional. You could always simply walk through in Tomb Raider and simply shoot all the guys and dinosaurs and wolves.
And half of these games didnt even take place in Tombs, or only partially...

As far i remember anyway.

Alright mister technical.
What I meant to say that the main focus of Tomb Raider is puzzle solving
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the main obstacle stopping Lara from going from one area to the next some sort of sequence of puzzles in a seemingly open area where any enemy you faced were mere nuisances to halt your progression?
It's one thing to make enemies more bareable to fight, but they went and made it into the main focus instead of puzzle solving.

Hmm, well... i'm only at the part where the poor budgie gets hit by lightning, so that issue might start later.
So i'm gonna wait until i fully judge. As of now, the main part was platforming.
Title: Re: Tomb Raider <3
Post by: Hakudamashi on April 09, 2013, 09:37:47 AM
In the old Tomb Raiders, platforming is supposed to be a means to solve the puzzle, not to traverse from one set piece to the next.

I just wanted more mandatory puzzles, and less Uncharted 4.

Yeah, it is a pretty awesome game, although I havent beaten it yet. I didnt expect it to be this good.
The scripts dont even bother me, since they're so well done and you still have control.

But yeah, Rise of the Tomb Raider is Xbox One exclusive...
Hmm....
