Other than the recent role-playing game Sonic Chronicles, there hasn't been a truly fun Sonic game in about a decade. That's about nine years too long. Speed kills.

Secret Rings and Unleashed were alright games. But they probably hate the games because they're not "true Sonic games". But I admit the series could do without the werehog and the... storybook storyline. I have no idea where Sega got that idea.

I agree. Even a lot of the fans only focus on the bad in the games. Granted, some of them stick out like a sore thumb, but just look at all of the...um...NON-sore-thumb-like parts in the games.
Like '06; it really isn't as bad as the reviews say it is (but I''ve only played it for 10 or 15 minutes...)
Neither is Unleashed, neither is Secret Rings, and neither will be the next one.

im not goin to blame style as the problems. (though they are getting more rid of the old as time passes) i blame glitches
compare sonic adventure and sonic 06... whats the difference? glitches and load times
the only other difference is that within that time period they forgot to put loops in sonic 06 (i mean they are there... but not often) and the speed was slown down as well

I agree, although I can deal with glitches (if used correctly they can make a game more fun! ;D)
I find it funny (now that I've played 06) because I saw comments on youtube that said and I quote "Sonic is finally fast again! He hasn't been fast since sonic adventure!" ...yeah, kinda sad...
I still say that Sonic Adventure 2 is the best game in the series, even though it's what caused sega to stop using the sonic adventure game engine (too glitchy, they said)

Erm... Sonic unleashed was fine. Just because the reviews say it isbad doesn't mean the game is. The reviews are just unfair and don't make sense: IGN and Gamespot rated it LOWER than Sonic 06! :o IGN gave it a 6 in graphics and low replayability. All Sonic games have good replayability and the graphics are excellent. Here is another fault. The Wii version has better reviews even though the 360/PS3 version is far superior. So these reviews are terrible not the game.

Unleashed rules take it from someone who took time and wrote a review about the game ( ok it is almost done )
Sonic Unleashed, is therefore...one of the best sonic games ever...and it was made recently. And imagen....The games that will come up next, not only Sonic and the blacknight but probably ones even BETTER that SU.

I hope Sonic doesn't retire. Its just they need a new developer team. They got a new one for Sonic Unleashed and the players LOVED it. The old team had disaster games. Sonic The Hedgehog 2006 (though I sorta like it), Sonic The Hedgehog GBA port (HATED),Sonic Riders (boring after five races), and Sonic Rivals (boring, basically one story with the same levels in the SAME order with just a different opponent game).
The new team will probably turn the downward trend back around and bring sonic back to his prime. With the adventure series (I loved SADX/SA and SA2/SA2b!)
I hate to admit it, but I think they're right :( Don't get me wrong, I love Sonic (and Crash, who apparently needs to retire too), they're my childhood games, but they need to know when to stop making this cheap and tacky games (Sonic and whatever its called, hes got a sword, WHAT?!)

What's worse is the fans who do nothing but compare all the Sonic games to the original games.
Why is it they only do this to Sonic?
Because Megaman has returned to the old games (MM9), the reviews seem to have a thing for Mario, Metal Gear Solid is over (at least with Snake as the main character), Halo keeps using the same thing over and over (but I haven't watched any Halo Wars reviews yet), Tetris is old news, and Pong hasn't changed since it's original release.
Well doesn't Sonic just feel special :P

I have several friends who share that theory.
One of them even goes far enough to say that someone at Sonic Team (who is trying to do the hedgehog in) is in cahoots with the game reviewers so that Sonic dies as quickly as possible.

Pretty Much What Killer said is true.
I think that Sega is just trying to milk the same sonic cashcow with every game. The staff is tired of it and striving for something new. Thats why you see something different in every sonic game. Here are some. Sonic as a black knight, wherehog, shadow(that addition was cool) etc. Thats just what I think
