I watched the full show, and umm, well I'll tell you: Cosmo becomes a tree and sits on Dark Oak, Immobilzing him, then Tails has to fire, regretfully, at cosmo, to kill Dark Oak and save the Galaxy. THE End.
Maybe 4Kids edited the scene and script so children wouldn't be all sad and start crying and then be scarred for life from this.
