So I join this spriter forum I found in hopes of getting someone to help me, so I ask for the help, and they want to see what it is I need done and what I've done for the project so far. So I show them a sprite sheet of Dash, Crash, some custom Sonamy stuff. I also show them art of Quicksilver, Ashley, and the comedy relief char Daze, and then finally a link to the story itself. So I thought to myself, "That oughta be enough."
Ohhh...it was enough alright. They gave me a hard time about how the characters weren't all that original and I needed permission from the owners, so I told them my position of co-captain and that I could do with the chars as I pleased.
Then they come out and tell me that having copyright on characters as bad recolors as they are would be pointless, and to quote a phrase by one Turbo Thunderbolt: "Sorry but no I'm not touching any of those with a ten foot stick."
So THEN I ask them where could I go to get my request done? And instead of site suggestions, I'm told that people will refuse to do it because they're FCs. And now I'm probably on that forum's hit list to top it all off. Now keep in mind that this is a forum made for spriters, so if a spriter's site won't take requests, then (forgive my profanity, and I don't wanna hear any comments about it, I will edit them) WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY THERE FOR?! >:(
Wow, that's kinda crappy. O.o I mean, I don't like FCs either but that's a bit harsh. But, you gotta admit, it's pretty hard to make an FC that fits "originality standards" today. You'll find help, I know it. But you have to look at things from their point of view, even if they were complete dicks. I wouldn't work on the Dash Adventure simply because I'm not super interested in fan-games anymore. Especially since it's really big. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but it's impossible to have copyrights over an edit if the original character can still be seen in the design.
Well you nailed it yourself. With every "original" character that comes out, it gets harder and harder to make one. I mean seriously, what do they want huh? And Blade was the only help I had, and his comp's out for repairs. I honestly have NO spriters anymore.
I just don't see the appeal of fanfiction anymore. That's why all my ideas emerge from the dust. But I do kinda owe Seth to fanfiction and we both know where he is on the HC ladder these days. xD
And you just got to keep looking. I did. And now my staff are also my most die hard fans. :P
well that was very rude of them, but I kinda think fan-chars are kinda boring ideas why not make something that has an original design, I don't want to insult you or your characters but an original character design is better than something made after other characters

They're not my characters, I'm just trying to find someone to sprite them since the character owners don't know how to sprite the way we need them to.

This was actually the first place I looked. I stole Blade for a while lol.
That's just realy messed up. What's the point in even having such a community if you aren't going to help anyways? If I had any skills or talents with spriting I'd certainly offer my own help, even if it was for a really crappy FC. Sure, something being original is important, but that's not the point. The point is creation and effort. Obviously those people are a lot of simple-minded fools. If you want I'd happily do some fan-art for you whenever I had the time, while it may not be sprites at least it's something I guess ^_^
I appreciate it Tobi, thanks. But right now all I need is someone to sprite for me. Honestly, even an amateur could do what I want. Unfortunately I myself don't even rank that high. -_-

Unfortunately I lost the link to the site after they turned me down. All I remember was that it was related to the Mystical Forest Zone.
