Title: A Reccurring Trend in Anime That I Hate(Harems)
Post by: Hakudamashi on August 26, 2011, 02:50:51 PM
I hope somebody can prove me wrong on this, but for now I will speak my mind.
I hate that in almost any anime where the many character has a choice of women to end up with, it's the most abusive one/ the one that treats him the worst that gets him.
At first I thought "Oh, she's the main character, so she has to get him anyway..." but it would appear that authors are willing to go to great lengths to make sure the biggest b*tch ends up happy.

I find this a problem because I believe it sends a bad message, especially the tsunderes. It's like saying "Hey girls, if you do nothing but whine and complain and treat the guy you like worse than your dog, and continually add to his problems instead of relieve them, then all your dreams will come true =D"
Not to mention in most, if not all cases, where the abusive one is not the main love interest, the win over main character by guilt tripping them, showing many scenes of them being sad and lonely that they can't have him cause he has the other girl.

But then hey, I shouldn't be complaining about it, I should just push these type of animes aside and move on to one where these type of endings don't occur. But that's the problem...
These type of endings, as far as I've seen, have become the norm for harem animes, for every time I tell myself "The next one will be better", I stumble upon another one...
Green Green was the final straw, so now I need some confirmation.

Is this really the standard type of ending for harems? Or have I just been unlucky so far?

Stop reading harems and read something worth your time.

Well it's something you should be doing with zero percent of your time. Harems are stupid, generic, and boring.

Well to answer your question, yes that is a standard ending for most harems.

Lucky for you if you enjoy reading the same thing over and over again.

Wouldn't be so much of a problem if this recurring ending wasn't one that made me sick -_-

Considering harems are generally chock full of hentai , I'm surprised it's solely the ending that makes you sick.

Sorry, just assumed it was a manga and not an anime.

My point still stands.
