It's a Newgrounds series made by someone called MidNightMaren. Unfortunately that author hasnt been on in a year.

reminds me of Golden Axe, but I am not sure, the backgrounds don't really look like on a genesis game
but I'm sure it's from a medieval style beat-em up
I saw this on the chat. I'm not sure. Possibly a GBA or SNES era game. Golden Axe? It would help if I had the name of the area or the context it was used in in Sonic RPG.

I'd like to help you there but I'm not sure myself. Final Fantasy games have showed promise, but I can't find the exact one.

Try playing it, then? They might give you a name in the RPG or it's credits.

You mean the Sonic RPG? Thought of that. The credits are pathetic. Just says it's on Mystical Forest Zone and I already dissected that place.

Same. I couldn't find the Background, but I did manage to delete the sprites with Photoshop Content Aware.

I apologize that it looks a bit crude. Whatever Photoshop wouldn't do on it's own I had to do with the smudge tool. I'm not that good of a photoshopper.
