Post by: sonicchriz on November 10, 2011, 07:05:37 PM

Face it.. they ruined Dante. He used to be cool, now he looks like a malnourished angsty teenager. He's gonna be like a demon shadow.

I like how you can tell he's no longer cool just because of his outward appearance...

i liked his attitude, his style, his voice, his looks, everything. Dante was an awesome character. Now they think he's "for an older Generation" an want to turn him into some emotionless prick. They even dared mess with his fighting style.. and where are all the other characters? Adn there's no meaning behind "Devil may Cry" anymore. :L

I don't agree with his design sure, but until I see a cutscene of how he acts and reacts to different situations, then I can tell if it's really Dante
As for the fighting style, it's too floaty...

I just realised that this isn't DMC5, but more like an alternate universe...
Why reboot a franchise that's been going great so far?

Since when was DMC a platformer...

Also, I hope it plays in 60FPS.. a DMC game at 30 would be absolutely terrible.

I'm surprised at you guys
Bashing and scorning this man just because of how he looks
You haven't even seen the man in action in an actual cutscene yet, he could very well be the badass we all know and love, just looks different

This is just as bad as those Sonic fantards that complained about "green eyes" >_>

Green eyes.

Plus, if you didn't notice, Tana wasn't just ranting about the looks. He went into more detail, or did you not read that much?

Green eyes.

Devils don't cry.

The Jewish people had paper clips.
Bronies had paper ponies.
The DMC fans will now have the phrase, "green eyes".

Wat's wrong with the fighting style? Other than the whip thing to pull enemies towards you, he's still pretty much Dante tto me...

The Niggah has black hair and you expect to see characters he doesn't meet until God knows when? But if this IS a "re-boot" and not an origin story as I'd like it to be, then seeing new designs of old characters would've been nice...

The only game that bothered to elaborate anything about Devils crying was DMC3, unless your talking about the store being absent, then this may be how he got the idea in the first place.
If your talking about how in every game the devils (Dante, Vergil or Nero) are stricken with some for mof grief somewhere in the game which hints that even a Devil May Cry at times of hardships and suffering then... you got me there =/

S-s-strong?

1- Success
2- Fail
3- A success, for the most part.
4- Extremely mixed reviews, mostly a fail

Hrm.
It sells "well".. but it's a series that is more and more of the same every time, so to say it's "going strong"... I dunno.

I don't understand why most people call DMC 4 a fail
Other than the backtracking as Dante and the terrible platforming that don't last long, why does it get so much hate?
And even so, every stylish beat em up ever is always being compared to DMC, it is the standard of all beat em up action games hat allow you to "string combos"
And it's not like DMC4, even with all the hate, dragged the series down far enough to need a reboot.

No, I loved DMC4 too, but it's the "more of the same" (don't fix what ain't broke dammit) and the "Artificial Lengthening" of the game that helped it get it's bad rating.

I don't understand the reboot either. And I understand the constant comparing. I guess I'm just failing to get my point across.

Contradiction?

A successful franchise and one that is "going strong" are essentially two different concepts.

And a DMC game is more of a fan's delight than a strong sell.

Difference
It's the same character Sonic the Hedgehog, but older, and the planet they live on, as far as my knowledge goes, was never referred to as "earth", they just call it "the planet"...

But in this, they threw the original Dante right out the window, character background and all...

Mortal Kombat also did a successful reboot without throwing away the original MK lore

What link, other than the game being called DMC, does it have with anything related with the DMC universe?

Then there are the Capcom-Haters and Whiney Fanboys who cant move on and are still suck in the early 2000's.

I really want this game... if it wasnt for Metal Gear Rising coming out in close proximity.
I wish i'd be able to play the MGR Demo.

Anyone played the MGR Demo? Any good?

Just, fuck off

Also about MGR, the action is what you expect from platinum games, y'know, excellence. However, Raiden is soo f*cking overpowered that he doesn't have the power to dodge... at all...

So, I just beat DmC Devil May Cry. Amazing Game, can't wait for the sequel.

Though I saw the ending coming already way before the game came out.
Yes, his hair turns completely white and 'cool' as it was in the previous games. In the sequel he'll probably look the same as in the previous games.

The changes in Dante's persona arent as big as I expect playing through this, considering the outcry. He is still a wise-cracker, 'being awesome', yet lazy guy that always stands up when he needs to be.
But I guess, a YouTube Video that shows one scene of him saying 'Fuck you' makes up his personality.

Really, anyone who says THIS Dante sucks clearly hasnt played the game. Or is still hung up the design itself. And there are alot of crazy acrobatic cutscenes in this as well, not as much as in the previous ones though.

The Artstyle blew me away. I was also stunned by the fact that SO much was going on in the later levels without the game EVER slowing down below 60fps. (PC)

I think there could be better plattforming segments. I mean, this game has alot of platforming but it is never that hard. The tools they created would've made some fantastic platforming. And I actually did miss the lock-on feature like... twice during the eight hours.

There's also a 'life' system in place... which is just... completely stupid. After a 'game over' you simply restart at the last checkpoint, which usually isnt that far away.

Now, I've only played DmC4 - So I dont know how well it fairs in comparison to the first 3, but its certainly better than that. That said...

This is certainly a game that someone must have played through, especially if you like hack n' slashes and ESPECIALLY if you liked the previous DmC Devil May Cry's.

And honestly... this is one of the most memorable games I've ever played.

I also was expected alot of dubstep - because those people in the YouTube sections that hate this game kept nagging  on that.
There wasnt alot of dubstep. Most of it was rock/metal.

You can get this game really cheap for 360, PS3 or PC on both Disc and digtally.
You'll also be able to rent it if you're paying for a PlayStation+ (US) subscription.
Give it a go. \(^^

It's funny because his hair and clothes change to resemble retro Dante in-game.

...still stings a bit, though.

I found this to be hilarious from the get go, but it becomes even funnier when his hair like this permanently by the end of the game.

Free on PS+ Fuck Yeah.

No PS+ Game is free, you're paying a subcription.

---

And I gotta be honest wind, you've been missing out.
And I see even less reason to dislike or be so judgemental about it now that i've actually played through it.

Dante still acts like the Dante from before. He's a bit annoyed and lost at first, but it makes sense in context. He grows during the game.
Hell, there are scenes downright copied from older DmCs. Tough nothing as awesome as the chair-scene from DmC4.

The only thing that actually does seem to be a major change is Mundus. He should've been a new character.
Though, admittely, there should've been a few more combos. It aint by far as limited as Metal Gear Rising's Moveset, but still.

I like how you assume:
-I didn't play it and beat it already
-I didn't like the game
-I didn't like the characters

Good to know you never payed attention to any of my arguments =/

I did, but you kept talking about it being on PS+ lately which made me assume you didn't play it and are gonna play it then.

I've been mentioning it cause now your money goes to Sony, or whoever gets money from the PS+ subscription, which makes it easier for people/me to give credit to Ninja Theory for making a good action game, and ignore CAPCOM for their shit decisions.

Also, you think this game's platforming is hard? Bitch, do you even Mario?

Well, it still goes to Capcom technically. Sony has to pay for the free games somehow lol

Really, the whole pulling / pushing / dash thing could've made some amazing platforming / platforming puzzles.
In the end it was just about reaction.

I thought it was awesome.
Though, fighting a white Hollow Vergil in a desert will it suddenly starts raining certainly reminded me of something.

We all made the painfully obvious Bleach joke already, spare me.

I think it's be alot more worth it if they gave us Vergil as a playable character in the main campaign, like DMC3, but no, we got this short... acid trip.

it wasn't worth my pre-order at all.

Yeah, so, this is still one of my favourite hack and slashes, like, ever.
I mean, y'all might disagree, but whatever. 10/10 from me.

I liked Vergils Downfall too, despite being... yeah, it was a 1:1 rip-off of Bleach, but it was still cool.

Found this video. Pretty sure this is the most relevant place to slap it rather than giving it a new topic.
