Title: Overused Term?
Post by: SonicFan47 on Jan 27, 2009 12:18 PM
Do you guys think that the word "UNLEASHED" is used to much in game titles nowadays?
I mean, think about it...

Sonic UNLEASHED...
Star Wars: The Force UNLEASHED...

What's next, Mario UNLEASHED or Metal Gear Solid UNLEASHED?

The most over used terms in video game titles (all caused by Nintendo):

Super
64
DS
Wii

Okay, that one's even worse than the UNLEASHED thing.

Nintendo, for all the praise they get, can't even come up with a name that doesn't have the system in it!

Sonic ADVANCED
Super Mario 64
SUPER Metriod
WII sports
Mario Kart DS

Seems kinda cheap now that I think about it... :P

Yeah, they're only consoles/handhelds that don't follow that rule are the NES, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Gamecube. I mean, they have the console logo right on the package. They don't need it in the actual title of the game!

Overused terms... do the numbering in the series count? I mean for example:

Sonic 1

Sonic 2

Sonic 3

and so on for a few other games and etc.

Now that I think is the most overused term!

I don't think it's so much overused as it shows a lack of imagination (even more so than the 'nintendo' system of naming. See above.)

Not exactly. I mean, if it goes on forever...

Mario Party 1
Mario Party 2
Mario Party 3
Mario Party 4
Mario Party 5
Mario Party 6
Mario Party 7
Mario Party 8...

At least Sonic's recent games have been more original. I mean, how original is going back to the title of the original game 15 years ago? Pretty original.

I don't know...
I've always thought that was a quick way out of naming it.
I guess it's original, but couldn't they have tried a little harder?

Oh, I just realized something...
SEGA used the 'Nintedo' system of naming! :o
What's more, it wasn't talking about the current system! :o
The Game: Sonic the Hedgehog GENESIS!  :o *gasp*
