Sonic Adventure 2 had longer gameplay (excluding big the cat in sa1) and more creative levels, like Sky Rail or City Escape. It also came out 2-3 (Depending if your in japan) years later so it rocks 60FPS compared to 30FPS.

SA2 seems to be the popular opinion. I think Sonic Adventure is more satisfying to go back to because of the variety and freedom it gives you. You have a lot of characters, extras, and a hub world plus a Chao Garden you can access at any time without having to pick up an item. For me it's more convenient.

For me, it was my first sonic game ever, so I have a little bit of nostalgic bias towards it

I prefer 1 over 2 becouse it felt way better then 2 in my opinion i never had any problems that other people had on the pc version (like falling trough floors). Also it had a better story in my opinion and it also (HOT TAKE INCOMING) Aged better then Mario 64
