Title: Animal Crossing: New Leaf
Post by: Elija2 on Jun 6, 2013 03:34 PM
Who else is getting this game day one? The correct answer should be "everyone" because this is automatically Game of the Year (because you'll be playing it all year).

Now I know what some of you guys are thinking. "Gee, another Animal Crossing game? Who cares?" Well I'll tell you what, you all should care. Because this game is easily the best game in the entire series. And why, you may ask?

Examples of things you can put in your town.

This is your secretary. So kawaii~

If you really like Tom Nook, now you can have a room full of him.

You can make your town look rad as hell.

Kawaii desu~

Swimming.

You'd have to be literally insane to not get this game. But what if you don't have a 3DS? Well now is the perfect time to get one, because Nintendo are coming out with an Animal Crossing themed 3DS XL, and it looks delicious.

The game comes out June 9th in North America and June 14th in Europe. I hope at least one other person here buys this game because I want someone to visit my town and I put a lot of work into this post to try and convince you guys to get it.

Put it on your shelf as a reminder of the good times you had with it, but acknowledge that it is almost an 8 year old game.

The game only costs $35. You don't need a Wii U anyway, at least not until next year.

Adventures of Eli in Animal Crossing Land: Part 2 of 395325356

I finished my first public works project: a campsite. I later went on to single-handedly fund a cut-out sign, a bench, a bridge, and the reset surveillance centre.

I visited the island with some pals. The island is where you make mad bank with them rare bugs.

These guys suck at hide-and-seek.

My museum is coming along pretty good. I marvel at all my hard work with a fellow neighbour who contributed absolutely nothing. These guys are freeloaders.

Today was my lucky day.

It helped me catch the rarest fish in the game.

Still Game of the Year.

It doesn't matter if I have the money or not, doesn't change that my store doesn't have it yet. The Nintendo Eshop doesn't accept my debit card, and if I decide to import it, it'll end up costing >$80 US because of customs n' shit.

I wouldn't buy it from the eShop anyway because of Nintendo's lack of an account system. Also your SD card could corrupt and there is no way to backup your save file so you could lose everything.

The online island is so finicky for me. I always get disconnected and lose all the stuff I caught.

Apparently some people have met Japanese players that understand a bit of English on the international island and they exchange friend codes and invite them to their town and give cool items. That will never happen to me.

Better yet, replace karma with like and dislike button. The noobs stop bitching about their karma and we can show appreciation without having to post.

Two birds, one stone.

Today is Tanabata, a Japanese-exclusive event. If you go to a Japanese town you can talk to Isabelle and receive a special bamboo furniture with people's wishes attached to it. There's also a cut-out board you can pose and take pictures with. I was lucky enough to have someone let me into their Japanese town. It's nothing too great, but I did get an exclusive item.

It's probably too late at this point. It's already tomorrow in Japan.

I visited the guy's town an hour ago. The person doesn't actually have to live in Japan, it just needs to be a Japanese copy of the game.

Tanabata's not that obscure of a holiday, is it? And this game could have introduced it to non-Japanese players.

That would be a stupid reason.

The developers wanted to have region-exclusive holidays. They want you to visit towns from around the world. And they actually do try to introduce it to players that visit a Japanese town. They call it "Starcrossed Day" in English though, don't know why they changed the name in the translation.

I just exchanged friend codes with someone with a Japanese copy of the game that was nice enough to let me in. I let him catalog a US-only item and he let me into his town. Maybe you'll be able to find someone on some other forum that's also willing to make a mutually-beneficial deal.

When Animal Crossing U comes out you can play the game wearing a Mii mask and then wear all the cool clothes you want.

It's a time sink. A simple life sim. There's not really a story or plot, no real ending, you just collect things and do things in your town. Though, New Leaf does have some more objectives to complete than older games.

If anyone has the Styraco Skull and/or Stego Tail fossils in New Leaf, let me know. They are the only two fossils I don't have.

Or if you get any spare art, because I only have a few of those.
