hey I am new to the ROM hacking idea. I have only just began and I am considering hacking Super Mario World. Does anyone have any tips, websites and suggestions they want to share with me to help me gain knowledge? ;D

To me hacking on games is quite difficult.
As long as you take the time to learn what it is that you need to do, you should have no difficulties.
Yeah and I have a tip for those who may be reading this who may be interested in hacking ROMs, like what I just learned, take your time and try out the tutorials. It helps you gain knowledge.

We weren't referring to the sort of hacking which is bad eg email accounts or profiles, but of video games which is actually a fun hobby ;)

I hack it all the time using Lunar Magic. Google it.
Use arm 9 to hack your roms works with iso's also I think

its not a ROM, but i hacked my REAL KH II, i changed Sora into Dual-Wielding Roxas in PJs... XD i wanna get a ROM of KH II though so i can hack that all i want too XD

It's no like they're trying to take advantange of the game by hacking. It's merely for fun and opened up for everyone to enjoy. But, that's your opinion, so I'm not going to argue.

in something like that....google is your best friend.
go to smwcentral, search it on Google. It has ROM hacks, tutorials, and a HUGE amount of programs you can use to hack the game. You won't regret it.

i agree with you on hacking multiplayer games. but hacking single player games (such as sonic adventure dx) is really fun.

I don't usually talk about it, but I kinda make Pokemon Hack/Mods. Since it like, kinda impossible to actually hack a 4th gen Pokemon into something original like you can do with 3rd gen...I decided modding them would be awhole lot easier...it basically the same game, but with every pkmn available and harder trainers, harder gym leader, elite four/champion, harder rival....stuff in that nature.
What I did that's actually different than the straight-up game was changed the sprites (some custom-made, by yours truly, why others are rip from black/white; mostly the hoenn pokes) of the pokemon, added a few new dialogue here and there. I changed some of the pokemon movesets, changed some of their type; nothing to drastic. I also, slightly increased their base stats and gave some new special ablitlies! Oh, and you don't have to trade to make them evolve and crap.
Let's see, I already made a SoulSilver and Platinum. If anyone's interest I guess I could put a link up them...tho, I guess I should tell that they're patches...meaning you're gonna have to patch it a rom.
