Square Enix is bringing back a franchise from the past. The PS2-Action RPG Series is making a return next year on PlayStation 3.
Drakengard and Drakengard 2 came out in 2004 and 2006 respectivly for PlayStation 2.
One thing that seperated Drakengard from other Action-RPG's was the fact that you also had a Dragon to Control, StarFox-Style.

DmC, Ape Escape and Mega Man don't count.
The Last Mega Man was in 2010, same goes for Ape Escape. Not that long, if you think about it.
DmC just got released this year.
And Ghost and Goblins Online was announced recently...
Also, I gave up on ever seeing sequels to Nintendo Games that are not Mario, Zelda, Kirby or Donkey Kong-related.
Same on Sega's side.
And what the hell is Summon Night Swordcraft Story?
Oh yeah! There's a new Crash Game. S' called Knack. xD
Hm, what about Dino Crisis?
Actually, come to think of it...
There aren't that many old, dead, franchises I want to return...
Or maybe they just dont come to mind because they are, indeed, old n' dead.
Alsooo, at this point I think Heavenly Sword would be better off as just that one single good game... No?

I meant a game from those franchises that don't piss us off. But you're right, that is irrelevant to this conversation.

So you just forgot that Metroid Other M was in 2010, they announced Yoshi's NEW Island and Yarn Yoshi, Pikmin 3 JUST came out,and hello? Pokemon X & Y? Wario Ware? Super Punch Out? Starfox Command? Miyamoto even stated that the next Metroid game they're doing is gonna be done by Retro. The Xeno games is getting a sequel called "X", etc.
Its no wonder Nintendo doesn't make sequels other than Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong, if they do anything else it fades out of existence in a few months...
And SEGA's been sh*tting out Super Monkey Ball sequels just as hard as Sonic.

And what the hell is Summon Night Swordcraft Story?
This really amazing JRPG for the Gameboy Advance that was a critical part of my childhood. It's gimmick was that your main character(of your choosing) and your familiar(also of your choosing) craft your own weapons and armour from scratch to raid dungeons n' stuff. It had a sequel that was also on the GBA
Granted I haven't played them in
years, so they might not be as amazing as I remember it...

Don't even joke about something like that :'(

Of course, with Resident Evil completely gone off the deep end and essential turned into another IP, Dino Crisis could come back and be the Resident Evil game Resi fans have been begging for. It'd be perfect.

Well there's a lot I wish to return, especially from the GBA and PS2, but if I listed them all, I'd be here all day...

This, and Mark of Kri/Rise of the Kasai. But I would appreciate another game like them. Maybe just change the protagonist?

Isn't that where the inspiration for the Kingdom Hearts character designs came from?
Was it? I know Sion looks a lot like Sora but I can't point out any other similarities.
I dunno, that's what I hear.

Star Fox Command was in 2005, Wind. 2005.
And Pokemon goes into the same sequel-poop-o-matic machine as Mario.
And didnt know Retro was developing a new Metroid. That is awesome.
But yeah, Pikmin 3. I'm too hash on old man 'Tendo.

Yes.
This'll be one of those games I'll buy, no one else will, and'll get awful reviews, yet i'll love.
I've seen some gameplay of this and it honestly looks like a bad Devil May Cry game with fantastic characters and music.
I dunno about fantastic characters...

I assume you've seen some of it then?
Nope
Just the vibe I'm getting from the trailers.

From what I've seen, most of these characters will be great.
Especially the protagonist and her dragon.
Some of the sisters she has go up against, admittetly, boil down to anime stereotypes though.
Anime stereotypes is all I'm getting.
Except the girl talking about piss.
I dunno, maybe it's just me, but the animations are a bit offputting...

Are we talking about the cutscene animations, or the gameplay animations?
Cutscene specifically.

I think those look pretty good, what's wrong with 'em?
UUUmmmm.....
They're bouncy and stiff at the same time...
Their movements don't seem "natural"
They look "restricted"
I dunno even know what I'm talking about...

I think I get what you mean. I think.
I suppose that's just the style- this whole Anime/realism thing
