OMG, if it wasn't for the save feature this would beat Guacamelee for my favourite platformer.
Granted, I haven't beaten it yet, but my first impressions have been nothing short of amazing.
Who knew playing a Metroid game with Ducktales physics would make the best game ever?
I may do a review of this when I'm done.
3DS owners, pls, you gotta try it out somehow.
I'm sorry, but I refuse to pay $12 for a DSi-Ware game. Especially since the iOS version only costs $3.
You must really love dem touch screens.
The DS has a touch screen.
iOS only has a touch screen, unless you're willing to shell out extra cash =/
I'm not saying I'd buy it on iOS, just trying to make a point that the DS version is overpriced.
I would agree with you if I didn't think the game was worth $15 for how f*cking amazing it is.
Is it better than the first game?
It's like comparing Sonic 1 to Sonic 3& Knuckles
i.e. Yes
EDIT:lawl, I just got an email from Wayforward saying they're making a Steam version of this game. I'm not upset, I will gladly buy this game twice.
How much better though? If it's twice the price it better be twice as good.

Works for me.
Soo much better that the first one feels like a waste of money
i.e. Yes
It apparently has all the updates from the iOS version... but with buttons.
As long as I don't have to pay $12 for it. Hell, I'll probably get it for $1 in a Humble Bundle or something.
Cheap ass.
I'll take that as a compliment.

Well know I'm glad I never played that game for the sake of it letting down my expectations.
But really, the game is great. There are some bits that feel a bit tedious but even those are enjoyable. I think my only complaint is the length. There are literally only five bosses and then the game ends. Really wish Half Genie-Hero would have gotten more support.

Play it anyway.
Besides, I said I haven't beaten it yet, maybe I'll end up liking Guacamelee more as a whole.

Metroid isn't much better in that regard.

Maybe if it didn't kickstart at the same time as Mighty No. 9...
So I finished the game, and I was right, my first impressions were great, but overall I still think Guacamelee is the best thing ever, but more on that some other time, cause I'm confused on something.
Spoiler
At the end of the game, Shantae gets her magic stolen and is now a full human. In the next game, Pirate's Curse, she's going to adjust to being a human. So how come she has her magic in Half Genie Hero? Is it an origin story or a sequel? And if it is a sequel, isn't it spoiling that she gets her magic back, especially since Pirate's Curse isn't out yet?

Wind, if you want to do spoilers you have to use;
Spoiler Here
I just use spoiler tags to mark the spoiler for other people. Otherwise you wouldn't know it's there.
Also I would have found it harder to believe she
didn't get her magic back at the end of Pirate's Curse.

Regardless, Half Genie Hero leaves me with questions. The story synopsis on their kickstarter page suggests it's an origin story, but those extra stories from the stretch goals suggest otherwise...
Or maybe they shoulda started this kickstarter AFTER Pirate's Curse release...
