I actually like Big, ignoring his own safety and going on such a dangerous journey to save his friend makes him worthy of my respect.
I wouldn't have minded the fishing if it was just a minigame and if it was better implented, since it seemed a bit broken. Heck, the most time I spent in Ocarina of Time was fishing at the pond near Lake Hylia.
