Definitely curious that they're using Sonic's modern game design on the teaser. Really hoping it takes place on the game canon universe or maybe the comics.

Normally these type of shows take place in a different continuity than the games.
This was true for comics as well, but now we have a comic book that takes place directly after Forces, which may have an ark that would lead directly into the next game. The show might either continue where the new game left off, on a different path than the comic (which will most likely continue the that game's story), or it'll be an adaptation of the comic preceeding the new title.

Either that or a standalone story taking place in between one of the older titles.
