As much as I hate to say it...it's all true.
I've been clearing my cookies like holy hell lately. Especially before I log onto Neopets.
Cookie grabbers suck ass. >:C
O.O Wow. Who'd have ever thought of scamming kids for their parents' financial data. That's sad. Smart, but sad.
But do you really have to delete all your cookies before logging into Neopets? As long as you don't go on the scam website, you should be safe, right?

1. They got to now, they embed cookie grabbers into the coding of the userlookups, shops, and petpages (you can edit your profile/shop/pet site's coding) so no, nobody is safe on Neopets anymore, but you're safer if you use firefox and have the right addons. Before, the CGs only exploited Internet Explorer, but people have gotten smarter, and now the effect FF users too.
2. Yes, I still play Neopets.
