Great soundtrack, good gameplay, and the Wisp mechanic is brilliant; I still don't like the ending, but I think the gameplay makes up for it.

It's a really great game, but I still think its biggest problem is the screen size and the way you get the emeralds.

To me, it's a good game; it might not be the best, but it's fun enough. Plus, it was Sonic's first attempt at making the jump to 3D, so I think the harshest criticisms are... a bit exaggerated.

the cutscenes are a fun addition the developers obviousy enjoyed, but Sonic Adventure 2 runs a lot smoother and is a better games in most every aspects

Sonic Adventure two, no contest. Despite how flawed a lot of the mechanics are its still a super nostalgic game.
