EA and Insomniac Get Social with Outernauts

Insomniac and EA are teaming up on a completely new intellectual property that marks the developer's first game tailored for Facebook. Called Outernauts, the game aims to fulfill your dreams of experiencing a career in cosmic exploration by combining Insomniac's immersive storytelling with a unique art style and sense of wit. Check out the full description below:

Outernauts is an adventure role-playing game that casts players as members of United Earth's elite Outernaut force. The Outernauts are charged with capturing and training exotic alien beasts as they uncover the riddle behind mysterious "ancients" while battling pirates and evil corporations seeking to control the galaxy. Players will explore planets, harvest loot, and fight asynchronously alongside or against friends to master a wild, untamed universe.

"We see a huge opportunity to reach an entirely different audience of gamers through Facebook," said Ted Price, President and Founder of Insomniac Games. "As we have demonstrated for nearly twenty years in the console games space, we're confident we can help evolve the definition of a game experience on Facebook. With Outernauts, we are delivering a deep story with real RPG strategy, coupled with Insomniac's signature sense of humor."

Seriously? You guys left Sony for this? And to partner up with EA of all people. First Rare, Bioware, when will it end?

Insomniac is independent. They simply stopped using sony as main publisher of their games.
Overstrike looks good, though.

And they're just using the EA Partners Program.  That way, everything they do is in their hands and they have complete power.
EA just gets a part of their money for publishing 'n things.

And since I've boycotted everything that has anything to do with EA...

You know as long as you don't buy anything in the game you're not really giving EA money.

Nope, I'm not getting anywhere near a game with EA on it.

That and I hate Facebook.

Hold on, Hold on.

What?

I'm assuming the game is freemium, so you can play for free and therefore not give EA any money.

The company that advertises them are giving them money. NOT YOU.

The amount of money they get through the ads are based by the views the ad gets.
so, ultimately, you're still funding money for EA.

Directly from you though? It's not like you are giving money to an ad product you dont buy. And it's just you viewing it, not you literally buying something out of the game, right?

Well if the game turns out to be good, what's wrong with them making a little money? Isn't the point of a boycott to support companies only when they do something right?
