I'm sick of AAA games these days
I'm tired of piss poor endings
I'm tired of all the overhype and ads
I'm tired of dead communities of games I care about
I'm tired of "cinematic gameplay"
I'm tired of "30+hr" games where most of it is comprised of watching cutscenes, navigating through menus, walking through a stupid big hub worlds and staring at loading screens
I'm tired of multiple gameplay styles in a single game, and by multiple, I mean more than 3...
I'm tired of all realism
I'm tired of all the non-colour
I'm tired of online pass
I'm tired of DLC
I'm tired of special additions
I'm tired of retail specific shit
I'm tired of the "but we want $60.00 worth of content" argument
I'm tired of the console war
I'm tired of pressing the mute button
I'm tired of the rage messages
I'm tired of the forced tutorials
I'm tired of the not-so-informative instruction booklets
I'm tired of bland characters
I'm tired of "YOUR CHOICES MATTER LOL"
I'm tired of updates
I'm tired of installs
I'm tired of...all of it...

So excuse me for not being enhusiastic... at all, about the VGA this year.
Seriously, when Kyo asked me "What's your game of the year picks this year?" I couldn't answer you cause I was soo out of the loop I couldn't even name 5 games that came out this year that I liked enough to say "This is game of the year material"...

Y'know what I want?
How's about a game, where instead of it being 50hrs long with a bagillion game styles where you only enjoy 2 hours, how's about a 2-5hr game, with only 1 really fun gameplay style? Like Limbo?

How's about a game where instead of another attractive human with a celebrity voice who has to save the world, how's about an australlian Tiger that throws boomerangs of elemental prowers at dinosaurs?

How's about a game who's only menu is "press start to begin"

How's about a game where there are no NPCs, just PCs?

How's about a game with a happy/cheesy ending for once?

How's about a game where you just go from level to level?

How's about an experince, you had a game console that has 1 power cord, and 1 tv cord. you plug the console in, you slap the game in, you hit the power button, and you just play?

Or maybe I'm just being unreasonable and just have to "get with the times"...

AAA games aren't held to the same standards as Indies. That's why.

If Nintendo published Limbo as as Wii exclusive no one would like it because they'd expect more from an AAA company.

Also Braid and Limbo are overrated as hell anyway.

I don't give a shit if you're tired of the argument. It's the truth. Indies get off WAY more easily than AAA games.

It may be true, but I never understood why.
I'm gonna try explain best I can, like, I thought AAA meant these games have the biggest budget and all the money will go to polish and tight controls and all that good stuff, something like Mario Galaxy, not to put all that money into movie-like cutscenes, graphics, and bloating the game up with all sorts of unnecessary crap while ignoring important thing like framerate, responsive controls and the like.

Granted I wouldn't be able to answer you if you asked me "What if Indie games had a AAA budget", my imagination can't stretch that far, but I believe AAA games have it easier cause they have the budget... or they would've had it easier if they didn't shoot themselves in the foot...

Well I say Braid is stupid cause fuck time gimmicks, seriously.
I praise Limbo cause, I like the atmosphere, the game is not too long to make me groan, and not too short to make me go WTF? The story is simple, the controls are pretty responsive, and the game itself is fair in difficulty, not too bullshit, but not too piss easy either... what more do you want from it?
