The Reason Generations 2 Would Be A Bad Idea

So there has been a lot of discussion on the internet of what this year's big anniversary game will be. One popular guess is Sonic Generations 2. Normally I could agree to that but then I had a thought. Why would they make a second one when they could have just added on to the first game in the first place. Opinions?
