this game is an amazing nostagia trip that i will play through time and time again.

I plan on trying to play through it again during Sonic's birthday this year... I'm gonna be a bit rusty playing it though xD since been to occupied with other games but yes I go back to this for my nostalgic kick

the reason why it's so nostalgia is due to the remixed spirtes, music with a nice modern flare.
the music itself has been exponentially heightened due to the famous teelopes;
in my honest opinion I feel like sonic mania.
though due to the story and the map locations I feel like it's more of a "best of sonic" type of game.
not only once but multiple times you go back to old locations but with a nice flare.
