So just because the "majority" wants action all the time, we should just cave in and curb our preferences to suit their tastes?

What about the rest of us who want a strict survival horror experience? Or a true RPG through and through

Hell, why can't I have another game like Harvest Moon? There is "action" whatsoever, just you, as a farmer, making your crops and selling 'em to towns folk, after which, if you so choose, get a wife, have a kid, and participate in the many town activities that occur in the year...
