The overall effect is nice, but the text really doesn't fit with the mood. Try burning the text into it.

Try getting a darker shade of brown, turn the opacity down, blur the edges but don't use a blur filter, do it by hand to make it look more natural.

If you have photoshop, there's a burn tool, burn the text edges while you're at it.
