At least the nominations are varied this year.
I've noticed Journey in about 8 categories and Assassin's Creed III in about 5, sometime overlapping. I don't really think there's much variation here.

More variation than the last years, sad to say.

Yes, games get various nominations in various categories. That is completely normal.
They'll get more nominations if they're really good.

SmashFinale

Spoiler Alert (if this even gets addressed this year): Best Wii game is XenoBlade Chronicles.

Speaking of which, I went up to America earlier this year, and it wasn't selling anywhere...

It's only sold in GameStop. The Last Story got released everywhere though.

The reason being?

The reason being a lack of localisation support from Nintendo of America, since it wouldnt sell.
It was translated and dubbed by Nintendo of Europe, thus everyone has a british accent in that game.

Namely Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story and Pandoras Tower.
The Last Story wasnt even brought over by Nintendo themselves, but by XSEED.
Nintendo of Europe brought Pandoras Tower to Europe & Australia, but not America.
And Xenoblade Chronicles was brought over by Nintendo of Europe in August of 2011 and after it did well it came to 'merica on April 6, 2012.

All three games where originally Nintendo Published Games and all came out a year before their EU Release Date in Japan.

Nintendo of America thinks Japanesey JRPG's will perform bad in western lands. Especially America.

Aaaaaaaaand... none of the Games sold well in the end in the west.
So good luck getting Nintendo's Wii U JRPG's over.
