My school's homecoming dance was about a month or so ago (Rant Warning)

From what I can remember, it wasn't really all it was cracked up to be. The music sucked, the food sucked, there wasn't a slow dance as far as I could tell, and the ONLY good thing about it was the fact that there was a "Quiet Room", as my date called it, relatively far away from the so-called "Dance Room". Speaking of the Dance Room, there were STROBE LIGHTS FRACKING EVERYWHERE, my date and I couldn't even tell if anyone was dancing! Speaking of what little of the dancing I saw, the dancing got a little obscene from what I could see, so my date and I just spent the rest of our time in the "Quiet Room" just talking and watching YouTube videos on my phone. As I said before, the music was absolutely TERRIBLE. The music was comprised of most if not ALL of the crappy "music" that's popular now. HEY REMEMBER WHEN YOU ACTUALLY HAD TO HAVE TALENT TO MAKE MUSIC!? HAHA, ME NEITHER! Honestly, I feel like the THIRTY FRACKING DOLLARS that I spent to get tickets for my date and I was a waste of my money and time! But in the end, I got to know here better than I did before (we've been friends since last year, so it was a bit awkward for the both of us.), and at LEAST I had the courage to even ask her to the dance (and I also confessed how I feel about her when I asked her out, and it turns out she likes me too). I'm definitely not going again next year, and I honestly don't know what I was expecting.

Hey, I know there are a bunch of people here who are a bit (if not a lot) older than me, so what was Homecoming like when you were in High School? Because I think at this point the event is just a shadow, or a shell, of it's former "self".
