If I remember correctly, Chaos Emeralds use the users thoughts and turn it into power. Do you know how many thoughts you have per second? A lot.....  ;D

well..... rings make sonic look wicked! but the emeralds make him more powerful then the rings

True, but the World Rings are the physical contained form of certain emotions.
Meaning that it gives you certain feelings and piggybacks on others.
You know how many thoughts the average teenager has per second?
Probably also a lot.

I reckon the Secret Rings were a bit more powerful than the Chaos Emeralds, with the Secret Rings and the Genie of the Ring he was able to control time and gain great speed and power, however I'm a bit debateable with it because he could only use the Rings in the game that they apear in, whereas he can just gather the Chaos Emeralds and and turn into Super Sonic whenever he needs to.
