Advanced/battle style tutorial/guide?

I've been looking for awhile, but I've been curious,

Is there like a guide on how to start the creation of an advanced sprite?

I found one of S3&K style, where it shows you how to start making him, and then you do what you want after, but I've had no luck finding one for advance/battle style, and I dont want to recolor Sonic to make him look like  Arrow. It would be more work than it looks, too, since I'd have to shorten him, and thats murder to do @_@
