Wat's wrong with the fighting style? Other than the whip thing to pull enemies towards you, he's still pretty much Dante tto me...

The Niggah has black hair and you expect to see characters he doesn't meet until God knows when? But if this IS a "re-boot" and not an origin story as I'd like it to be, then seeing new designs of old characters would've been nice...

The only game that bothered to elaborate anything about Devils crying was DMC3, unless your talking about the store being absent, then this may be how he got the idea in the first place.
If your talking about how in every game the devils (Dante, Vergil or Nero) are stricken with some for mof grief somewhere in the game which hints that even a Devil May Cry at times of hardships and suffering then... you got me there =/

And even so, every stylish beat em up ever is always being compared to DMC, it is the standard of all beat em up action games hat allow you to "string combos"
And it's not like DMC4, even with all the hate, dragged the series down far enough to need a reboot.

No, I loved DMC4 too, but it's the "more of the same" (don't fix what ain't broke dammit) and the "Artificial Lengthening" of the game that helped it get it's bad rating.
