Well, the last sentence is "Once dead, they can never come back to life."
And in the prolouge type thing, in which the little kid finds the Death Note and uses it as a diary, writing down names while writing what happened during the day, then when he finds out he has been killing people, he gets scared, tells his friend and goes tell the cops, who obviously don't believe him, then he tests it on his friend (I think, not sure.) and then Ryuk tells him about the Erasor thing, that lets the kid erase names from the Death Note and bring them back to life.

So tell me, is the statement false?
