I'm neither for nor against the couple. I mean, I don't mind SonAmy but the entire prospect seems kind of one sided. Amy just seems to want to trap Sonic into a relationship, and Sonic's just not that interested.

I am however, a SonBlaze fan, because it seems to me the couple is a bit less onesided on both sides. Sonic kind of brings out a part of Blaze she never thought she had, I'm not talking about the Burning Blaze form either, but the potential for compassion as opposed to just be a hard core loner. Blaze also seems to gain a fondness for Sonic and they work great together as a team and have the potential for a dynamic. But there seems to be one thing standing in their way...Blaze is from an alternate dimention. But supposing Blaze's world gets destroyed and she ends up on Sonic's territory as the sole survivor...yeah I know it's drama but it could work.

People might ask, how about Silver then? Personally I think their relationship (Silver and Blaze) is more of a Brotherly Sisterly relationship.

As for Amy, I see a potential in Shadow and Amy. I still remember it was Amy who convinced Shadow to help save the group back in SA2, and I think Shadow would convince Amy to pursue other strengths besides just running after an impossible odd. I also think Amy would bring something out in Shadow kind of like Sonic did with Blaze, a warmness and compassion.

The whole couples thing is merely a matter of opinion. But, seeing as you haven't played nor seen the newer games, you probably didn't notice that, little by little, Sonic is beginning to warm up to Amy. And another speculation here, is that maybe if Sonic didn't brush her off so much, she wouldn't have the need to chase him down. Just give her some attention every now and then, and she might cool off. Amy has a deep capacity for love, not just for Sonic, but all of her other friends too. And she's no weakling, she can hold her own in a battle. So it's not like EVERY situation would be a "damsel in distress" issue. (Like a certain blonde princess I know)

Not to put too fine a point on this, but try watching these vids.

And as for Blaze, I've seen those moments with her and Sonic, but he does that sort of thing to just about every girl he meets. Although most of the time it's not intentional. And Sonic isn't the only one who takes the seriousness out of Blaze's personality, remember Cream? Or Marine? And yeah, they are a good fighting team, but Sonic fought with Eggman too so...yeah.

Maybe they never met, but Silver and Blaze work too. Your argument for brother and sister relationship is valid, but have you ever watched Kim Possible? Kim and Ron were "best friends" all the way from Pre-K to Junior year in High School. Once they hit Senior year, *BAM!* they're a couple. Perhaps the time wouldn't be now, but if they met, and hung around each other for a few years, it could work.

They tend to do that with TV shows, but in real life I have a best friend who's a guy and he's like a brother to me. We've agreed that it would never go beyond a brother/sister relationship, and I like it that way.
It kind of ruins it that EVERY single guy/girl friendship has to turn into a love relationship, and I just don't see that happening with Silver and Blaze. Sure, Silver might have a crush on Blaze, but she seems to care for him like a little brother.

And yeah I havn't really played the newer games, but it still sounds a little one sided. Give Amy a little attention and she'll leave him alone? That's probably WHY he's doing it, he figures give her a little attention and she'll be satisifed with that. Some people think that Sonic would be better off without a girlfriend. Now, if Amy grows up and matures a little bit, and leaves Sonic alone...kind of like Ginny did with Harry in the Harry Potter books...then maybe. I'm not saying Amy is a damsel in distress...she used to be but she's grown past that and learned to hold her own. She's gotten stronger, and faster. But I just think Amy has more potential than just a love interest for Sonic. I also think that a Shadow/Amy dynamic would work great.

And while you make a valid point about Marine and Cream, they're also little girls. I also don't think Sonic does it with every female either. Marine was also very annoying, and well...Cream was too. Sonic wasn't annoying to Blaze...well...he may have been but not as much as those two were.

Now I want to keep in mind that I do respect your opinions, but my opinion is very different from yours. And that's ok, if everyone had the same opinion, we wouldn't be having these interesting discussions. It would be like...oh you like such and such couple? Cool me too. And that would be it.  :)

By saying that all Amy has to do is mature a bit, you admitted that Amy would be a decent possibility for Sonic. I'm well aware of Amy's usual immaturity. But there are moments when she comes up with a valid point, like your example of Shadow and Amy. But let me put it this way, who do you think would be more tolerable of Amy's immaturity? Sonic or Shadow? I definitely have to say Sonic. Shadow is disgusted by incompetence, which unfortunately, Amy sometimes has problems with. Sonic on the other hand, usually just shrugs it off with a laugh. That moment with Shadow was the only moment during their entire relationship. Meanwhile Sonic and Amy have shared many moments with each other. Some more tender than others. But as you said in a related topic, all couples have their issues. I don't believe that Amy is so obsessed that she'd do anything Sonic wanted her to. She takes abuse from NO ONE, not even Sonic, which if you saw the video I added here, you'll notice. And the most recent Sonic game, (Sonic and the Black Knight) right before the credits roll, Sonic can be heard explaining the adventure to Amy, while the storybook pictures flash across the screen. Now, right after he finishes, Amy takes the whole thing as an excuse for what? Missing their date. Which would mean that Sonic willingly agreed to go on a date with her.

Of course it's a possibility, and I'm not completely opposed to the possibility either. I just prefer Sonic and Blaze, and the fact that I think SonAmy just degrades Amy's purpose in the games. She's got a lot of spunk, a lot of heart, and a lot of potential as a character, and SonAmy to me just means that her only purpose is to be a love interest for Sonic. I really do like Amy Rose, she's awesome. But to me I just think that all a Sonic/Amy pairing does is make me view her as a Sonic chaser, and to me that's the one annoying aspect of her personality. Other than that, she's a great character.

I don't think Shadow and Amy would start out liking each other, but I think the potential for their personalities could click. For one thing, Amy reminded Shadow of his dear Maria. So we know Shadow does have a soft spot deep inside his hard and cold exterior. Their personalities would balance out their short comings.
But you got me there, I do think Sonic's more tolerable of her immaturity. But I think someone like Shadow could approach Amy and be like "look, you have more potential than just chasing Sonic all the time" and maybe convince her to look a little deeper into herself. In the mean time, I think Amy could get Shadow to light up on the whole dark and emo routine. Of course, whether Shadow and Amy do hook up or not doesn't really bother me all that much, I just like the idea of it. I think they could work well as a couple.

I think Amy's intelligent enough to realize that something would be terribly wrong with Sonic if he was just plain mean to her, or if he wanted to say, hurt a flickie for example. But most of the "moments" I've seen with Sonic and Amy involve Sonic running away from her, shrugging her off or not taking her seriously.
Shadow on the other hand, hasn't had much of a chance to interact with Amy since he appears to be busy doing other things.

You sure about that? Amy could've just said he missed their date, and she could've been the one who said they were supposed to date, and expected Sonic to go along with it whether he wanted to or not.
Remember in heroes, she was determined to stop at nothing to get Sonic to marry her.

That's just the thing. Shadow WOULDN'T go up to her and say that. There are very few things that Shadow considers important enough to intervene for. Shadow wouldn't waste his time telling Amy her potential. And Amy does more than chase Sonic, she's done both. There's always this issue with multi-tasking. Someone says: "If Sonic hooks up with Amy, he can't run around any more." Not true, Amy wouldn't interfere much with his freedom. If anything, Amy would enjoy running around the world with him. Amy can be her own person, and still love Sonic. And as for the SatBK date, I believe it was legit. If Sonic was trying to avoid Amy, why would he go look for her to tell her the adventure? I don't think she found him in the middle of nowhere. And Amy never says it's a date unless Sonic agrees. She keeps trying until she gets one, but she doesn't accuse him of forgetting things he never agreed to. So I believe the date was legit, because Amy wouldn't have freaked out the way she did unless they actually had something planned.

You don't think Shadow would have enough compassion to talk to her if he saw her crying? Shadow's a hard core character sure, but as we can see from his feelings for Maria that deep down he is a caring individual. I don't think he's one to really show his feelings outwardly, but I don't think he would stand by if a girl, especially a girl who reminded him of Maria at one point in time, was crying or upset. I think he'd be a little rough around the edges about it though, but just because he's rough around the edges doesn't mean he doesn't have a soft spot deep down. If not helping her out isn't important enough, then why did he even give Maria the time of day or even care about her?
Now, I'm not so much concerned about Amy forcing Sonic to slow down, because I agree: I do think that she wouldn't mind traveling and going on adventures with him. But do you think Amy would let Sonic have his "man time" without him having to run off to get it? I think he's just agreeing to date her because that way she'll stop bugging him and feel satisfied with her. I think he's just appeasing her so she'll leave him alone, but really I don't think he's interested in anything other than a friendship with her. Amy might want to be his wife, but I kind of think Sonic thinks of her more like a kid-sister, and he did kind of roll his eyes and go along with it in Sonic Adventure, but he did keep running off on her. It sounds to me like Sonic's telling Amy "Yeah yeah I'll go along with it if you'll leave me alone for a while afterwards" And Amy just eats it all up. Seriously, her Sonic chasing kind of screams louder than her ability to be a strong woman and kind of reduces her to being a door mat.
Now, I'm sure that Sonic does care about Amy, and probably wanted to tell her about his adventure as a friend, but I somehow doubt he's dating her as a boyfriend. He may have seen it as a hanging out with a friend, while Amy took it as a date.
