Microsoft has apologized to a 26-year-old West Virginia man for suspending his account after it was discovered his profile listed his hometown city as "Fort Gay," the Associated Press reports.

Josh Moore's Xbox Live account was mistakenly suspended for a few days when Microsoft initially believed his profile was violating the service's code of conduct policy. The town, however, is real and has a population of 800 people.

"At first I thought, 'Wow, somebody's thinking I live in the gayest town in West Virginia or something.' I was mad. ... It makes me feel like they hate gay people," Moore told the AP. "I'm not even gay, and it makes me feel like they were discriminating."

Xbox Live's Director of Policy and Enforcement Stephen Toulouse quickly resolved the problem saying it was a miscommunication issue.

"Someone took the phrase 'fort gay WV' and believed that the individual who had that was trying to offend, or trying to use it in a pejorative manner," Toulouse said.

"Unfortunately, one of my people agreed with that. ... When it was brought to my attention, we did revoke the suspension."

In March, Microsoft began allowing its users to include information regarding race, nationality, religion, and sexual orientation in their Gamertag profiles.

Xbox Live members, however, cannot enter information that may offend others, including references to drug use, hate speech and racial, ethnic or religious slurs.

There is no such thing as a 'Happy Gay' anymore.
That might have been right 100 Years ago.
But not anymore.
In modern english it means Homosexuall.
'Fort Gay' was founded when Gay ment Happy. But as time evolves - words change.
