Which era were the best for Sonic?

Just wondered what peoples opinions were when it comes down to sonic being on which selection of consoles.

Are you a retro kid, and enjoyed everything the way it was back on the MegaDrive/Genesis)...
Or are you new to the sonic scene and enjoy those.. Newer generation sonic games?

Meh, I liked the Gamecube era, and the Old consol days too.

I've already voted on the poll, And I can safely say - Master System/MegaDrive 

Don't get me wrong, there were some great games on Dreamcast and what have you, but the MegaDrive games ticked all the right boxes for me... Especially when it came to the MegaCD and Sonic CD =D

I would have said the same thing;
About 8 years ago... I'm still up for the idea, don't get me wrong - but the Sonic Adventure series was and still are probably two of the best 3D sonic games out.

However, look at the recent track record of 3D sonic games (especially around the PS2/Xbox era).
Most of them (if not, all) were rushed, had an untold amount of glitches and enough cheesy script to make a super cheese megamix vondoo to feed Africa and its dog for a lifetime.

...Things are starting to look up, however.

I'm gonna have to go with the current era of PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360. As far as I'm concerned, 3D was the best thing that ever happened to Sonic, though I wouldn't mind another good side-scroller, even I'm now getting way off the point of this poll.

I know the last comment has been posted a long time ago but I'll just comment anyway =3=;. I'd say the Dreamcast era? I like the Sonic Adventure games. Even though you could also play them on the Game Cube...

Obviously the first era, at the time where Sonic just as popular as Mario.

SEGA Genesis era of course. Not only was sonic my first video game on my first console ( Sonic The Hedgehog 1991) but alot of good sonic games were in that era. Like Sonic 2, it was the first appearnces of Tails, Super Sonic, Death Egg, (Start of the Death Egg Saga,) and all 7 Chaos Emeralds. Super Sonic sadly consumes your rings for power. But on the bright side in exchange, u got invincibility, (except for deep pits, drowing (except in sonic 4,) and getting smush.) And sonic 3 which sees the return of the Death Egg, but the first game Knuckles appears in. Following the return of Sonic, Tails, and Robotnik. And Sonic & Knuckles which is lock-on with Sonic 3-1. Sonic & Knuckles features two playable characters, Sonic, and Knuckles (who's story take place right after sonic story.) And when lock on to Sonic 3, you get to play the full as it should. You now have to collect 14 Chaos Emeralds, ( 7 super emeralds and 7 chaos emeralds,) and feature hyper/super characters. Hyper Sonic, is the fastest Super form of sonic, and you can do a trick called hyper flash, ( jump 2 in order to activate it,) and Hyper knuckles (differeant colored knuckles,) and Super Tails, he has flickies surrounded him, and the flickies defeat bosses for you, and requires 14 Chaos Emeralds + 50 rings. And When Sonic abd Knuckles gets lock-on to Sonic 2 you can play Knuckles in Sonic 2, ( differant title screen, no options and no 2P.) And lock on to sonic 1, you play Blue Spheres! When the NO WAY! logo appears hold down A+B+C and you can play it. And there is a password system so u don't have to start all over again. It is an unlimited amount of levels to have u coming back for more! And Sonic CD, which is the first appearance of Metal Sonic, Amy, Time Stones, and miracle planet. And who could forget sonic 3D Blast? Called Sonic 3D blast Flickies island in europe, is where you collect all the flickies and head them to the ring. There is no chaos emeralds, but you need to get them to get not only the final true boss, but the good ending. And Dr, Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, is a puyo puyo clone. Not much to say about this game. In conclusion The SEGA GENESIS era is the best in it's era.

You mixed it up dreamcast is 7th gen too like xbawx ps2 and gaming cube >_>
