I don't want to be Indie. I want my own company. But I guess I could start Indie and build up. You don't really need much to be an Indie developer, do you?

You need a decent computer, a brain, some originality, and some spare time.

Also, what is the sonic fanbase supposed to realize? Nothing in that list explains the terrible writing, bad acting, and awful decisions made by SEGA in past few years.

Number 5 applies here.

QuoteThat trailer you spent months working on and getting approved is terrible! That Special Edition boxed set you designed only contains a cloth map? What a rip off! The console multiplayer mode you programmed doesn't support enough players. Boo! And the single-player campaign you wrote is a lot of fun, but way too short to be worth $50.
Like a sea of bad fathers, video game fans will never be happy with your work. And even if they are, the DRM your parent company forced you to put in the game means they're telling all their friends how to pirate it anyway.

Number 3 locks the developers down.
QuoteFans can take an offhand joke the wrong way, sinking months of careful marketing and focus testing. But in reality, it's just a way to prevent you from revealing the Kafka-esque nightmare that is your job.

And then there's the topic John posted here.

Quote
Lizuka talks about how Sonic collapsed saying a huge factor was the fact that their was no consistent producer. Tons of producers threw their ideas into the games and this created a lack of continuity.

Either that happens or they shut down production. Maybe that's whats happening to Mega man also...
