Sell Out or Golden Age Part II?

A few of my friends were on Reddit today and the Progressive Car Commercial was on with Sonic. The topic saying something like "Well Sonic it was a nice ride while it lasted. So long..."

All of my friends immediately yelled at me as soon as I said he's entering a 2nd golden age (like back in 1991 and forward), even though they laughed saying Sonic was not loved back in the 90's - which is dead wrong! This got me thinking, is this just a phase, or has Sonic sold out... OR is this finally getting him back on track to where he was back when Honey Nut Cheerios and other brands had him on commercials and soup covers?

It's without a doubt things are slowly getting better, but I highly doubt he'll ever regain the respect he had in the 90's.
If we could get some new writers though....
