jkid's Guide to Making Bull Shit Money Off A Fighting Game

Step 1: Take a rather strong character in the game, such as the boss character, and make him/her an unlockable character in your game.
Step 2: Make his/her unlocking criteria plausible, but extremely difficult. An example of this is the method of fighting Reptile in Mortal Kombat.
Step 3: Take that same character and make him optional, downloadable DLC for a fair price (such as $0.99). Players who feel they are "hard core" enough will take pride in unlocking said character, however, players who want a fast track to 100% will most likely give up and pay for the character, thus, you are effectively scamming players out of something they could get for free and is on the disc, but not within they're skill level to unlock.

The crazy shit I think up at 2:00am.

I thought terrible ideas was the whole point of this thread.
