The Next Generation of Gaming is Here! Square Competes With the Unreal Engine!

This is what the next generation of consoles are going to look like
make sure to turn up the quality all of the way.

This is a game engine designed by Square to be sold to other devs for their use in games and to compete with Epic's Unreal Engine. To be quite frank it seems to blow the unreal engine out of the water.

So, the question is can the Wii U handle this engine? We don't know Wii U's exact specs yet, however it has been confirmed that it runs a game on average at around 60 fps with current game engines while the 360 and PS3 run those same engines at about 17-30(PS3) and 24-30(360) (Sucks that the PS3 has a ****ty motherboard). Nintendo has also said that if you use a second Wii U game pad, your frame rate will drop from 60 to 30.

So my guess? Yes, the Wii U most likely can run this engine, but not exceptionally well. It'll probably have a frame rate drop and it won't be able to support a second gamepad, but I think it will run. Or at least I hope so.

Granted I only speculated in terms of the Wii U's CPU. I didn't take the GPU into account because... well... there hasn't really been anything said about it yet. And the GPU is going to have a large role in this.

What do you guys think?

And THAT is PRECISELY why I wish they had announced a name change at E3. Wii U sounds like an expansion on the Wii, not a successor to it. Wii 2 would be better. I'd rather see something more inspired, but it's better than Wii U.

If it helps, look at the DS and the 3DS. Exact same situation. It all depends on your opinion of how that turned out.

I just found out that by "real time" they mean that this is the in-game graphics, as in, this is the graphics when you're playing the game.

If so, then games are gonna get a hell of alot more expensive.
