The show is like a combo of 2003 Turtles with the 80s cartoon.
And it works strangely well.

They all said "cowabunga" in the old one and they've all said "booyakasha" in the new one. But Mikey says booyakasha the most.

They all used to use surfer lingo, not just cowabunga. I really don't see why they can't still use it. Kids have heard stuff like "tubular" before, right? It makes sense that the turtles would use out of date slang, since they've been more or less sealed off from society.
