Lemme know your opinions on the Wii U!

It's what the Wii should have been from the start. It's fine. Nothing groundbreaking in the grand scheme of things. I don't like that it doesn't use Blu-ray. TVii is neat though. No clue why anyone would bother getting the white one when the black one has 4 times the internal storage, comes with a game and a stand, and only costs $50 more. Plus, it's black.

And comes with a game (nintendo land), and discounts on online purchases.

I mentioned the game. I forgot about the discounts though. All the more reason to get the black one instead of the gimped white one.

Oh, and this sucker supports up to TWO TERABYTES of external storage and Nintendo says they're going to INCREASE that with a future update.

You and this Blu-Ray thing. I dont even see the difference in HD and Blu-Ray. I guess cause my eyesight is 6 steps from being blind or something but still. It's not that big of a deal. And plus i dont want another $600 console again. That's a price that should only be spent on shitty computers.

It's less about the quality of the picture in this case and more of the fact that Nintendo won't be on the same standard. PS4 will almost definitely use BD and it's very likely the new Xbox will. The more Nintendo does to separate itself like that, the less third party publishers will support it on the same level as the Sony and Microsoft consoles.

Blu-ray: 25GB Per layer, 18MB/s Transfer rate (PS3's is half of that, at 9MB/s)

Wii U disc: 25GB Per layer, 22.5 MB/s transfer rate

Explain how Third Party Developers are going to want to avoid Nintendo. These discs arent even expensive. It's the truth.

AS for my opinon on the console, I think it's fantastic! I love everything, especially Miiverse. I just wish it had a killer app.

...Miiverse IS supposed to be it's killer app... for the built-in system at least.

A killer app is a system seller. A game that defines a console.

I'm not saying not supporting Blu-ray will kill the console. It isn't a huge deal, but it's worth noting. Surely there's a difference in writing to Wii U discs compared to BD. It may not be a huge difference, but its one that separates Nintendo from the other (future) consoles. Probably even PC games by that point.

Who knows, maybe it will benefit them. But they're pushing media a lot with the Wii U. TVii, for example. Just seems weird, why NOT support BD?

Tanassy

Probably because of their stance against pirating and hacking.

And it's not a problem, writing to these discs, because they're mostly done by the same manufacturers anyway.

I've been watching vids of the Wii U, and I've noticed that those who like the Wii U ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT, but those who dislike the Wii U are like "eh"...

Well, all the problems that they've said about the Wii U are either problems the PS3 and Xbox360 have, or some loading issues, but I played Sonic 06 so that doesn't bother me, and the whole "Not enough internal storage" won't bother me cause from my PSP days, I've trained myself to deal with limited storage space

Quite frankly, the only thing that might bother me is the whole day 1 patch thing is kind of a pain, and the whole thing that the button layout of some games are switched to accomodate for the stupid placement of the buttons, but I'll get over it.

But I gotta say, I'm really liking what I'm seeing.
