Just forget I said anything.
Talking to you about this gives me a headache.

Shitting on The Final Fantasy team for making a Solo RPG is like Shitting on Sonic Team for making a Shooter..

...oh, wait.

Kyo loved that too..

Hakudamashi

The team can make whatever they want, just don't attach it to a franchise that's well known for doing something else.

The strategy, racing and rythm games are un-numbered  spin-offs, which I've already said I'm fine with.

The shooter game is a spin-off-ish/sequel to FFVII. It's a shooter game taking place in the FFVII universe, which I'm cool with. If it was FFVII-2, then I'd have a problem.

The MMO, why not just call it Final Fantasy:A Realm Reborn, or some other weird title, why does the XIV have to be there? Could've even been lazy and just said FF:Online, then FF:Online-2 >.>

franchise

You said it, not me.

Hakudamashi

Would it have pleased you if I said "Numbered direct sequel to an established franchise", every time we talk about this?

yes, it would. And even then, I'd still say you were picking nits.

I would like similarly named things to do similar things. I would like things to be consistent, it makes the "what game should I play next" phase easier.

"I just finished Tales of Legendia and really liked it, I wanna try something similar to that but not exactly the same, so I'm gonna pick up Tales of the Abyss"

I dun wanna find live in a future where
"I finished Final Fantasy V, I wanna try something similar to that, but not exactly the same, so I'll search the internet for story focused video games with turn based gameplay and large open worlds with condensed dungeons that also have a job system. *After some searching* I found this game called Bravely Default"
becomes the norm for me to find shit.

If I play a game called Red Dead Redemption and like it, I wanna be able to just search "Red Dead", find Red Dead Revolver, and have a similar enjoyable experience, rinse and repeat till I've played all of 'em.

And if I don't want an experience, I should be able to know where NOT to look. God forbid the ultimate anime fighting game with Mario and Sonic guest starring is titled "Madden Football 2017"...
