Seriously, this anime probably goes on record for having the most character death in 25 episodes.

I'm not talking about random citizens in the background, I'm talking about characters, with names, personalities, ideals, goals, backstories.
But, just like I've bitched about it countlessly(and it's one of the main reasons I've stopped watching anime), they create these characters for the sole purpose of building up the main character, then kill them when the main character learned what he needed to learn or whatever, and 98% of these characters are women. And the characters that happen to avoid this "fate" are 3 characters with personalities I do not like.
But like, they do it like once every 2 episodes, it became routine. And they're soo upfront and blatant about it, it almost seems like it was a parody of this exact troupe, and if it is, then it'd make a certain scene in the last episode make alot of sense lol.

So why did I watch it all the way to the end then? Cause it's pretty looking =P

Just saying, if you're planning on watching this, don't get attached to anyone.

don't worry  there are just as many deaths in season 2. Still a good anime though

You've seen it?

yep, even with all the deaths i still loved the anime.
I guess it is because I am so used to animes just having random characters die without developing them so its a nice change for me.

The majority of the deaths were still pointless...

It fits the story of the anime though, since its about groups of people with powers(aka contractors) fighting other groups of contractors. Plus the early characters were there to teach you more about the anime backgrounds and about dolls/contractors and weren't needed past that

Regardless of whether they were needed or not, they are other ways to keep a character out of a story without having to kill them. They made character death seem like a complete non-issue and nothing to be concerned about, and the fact that our "protagonists" could hardly give a f*ck doesn't help anything.

For me, I think killing a character, especially one where you actually bother to give a background, is something that should be done sparingly, cause otherwise, why get attached to anyone?

Some of the characters just dissapeared I think?

Idk, when I was watching it I didn't really get attached to many characters since most of them are mainly plot points to find out more about hei, yin, mao, huang, Amber and Misaki. Even then I barely count Amber in there.

And personally, I have a huge gripe with character death being used just further some character's "development", or worse, just for shock factor...
