I stopped at Gold/Silver.
Not because i was bored with the series. But because i kept either losing or breaking my GBAs.
And when they announced remakes of Red and Green i just became confused as hell on which games were necessary and which games i could put off. Ruby and Saphirre came out shortly afterwards... or was it the other way around?
Point is i was confused with all the Pokemon games being at such a short time period.

Now any knowledge of pokemon i take from the anime. That way i at least know what pokemon is what type.
